I love my boots!

Some time back, my blogging inspiration posted a photo of her boots.  I can’t link to that blog-post, or the photo, because, for some reason, I’m not able to see her blog.  Oh well.

But, I have a pair of boots, now, that I love.

Here they are:

my boots

so, why are these my favorite winter boots??

I don’t know how many of you grew up in the 1970s.  there was this brand called the Earth shoe.  it had a sole that had a thicker base under the toes than under the heel.  there was a whole lotta hype about how natural this shoe was for the foot.

and, at the time, I couldn’t afford to buy new shoes.  I coveted the Earth shoe.

but, a few years ago, I was looking for a boot that I could wear in the winter cold, to walk the 1.5 miles to our synagogue no matter the snow, sleet or rain, and I found on my favorite online shoe-store, Zappos, the Earth shoe answer to my dreams – in plum!! my favorite color!!  It’s called the Kalso Earth Elite, and I bought it in 2009.  It’s no longer available 🙁

But, I LOVE these boots!!  I wear them with everything, on Saturday morning.  It really matters not what is above the boots.  These boots are my go to in the winter.  They’re lined, so they’re warm.  They have the cool inverted sole, with the lower heel and the elevated toes.  I know there was a whole ethos about that type of sole in the 1970s, and that’s faded, especially in these days when many of my female friends are sporting 4+-inch heels that I can’t imagine ever trying to walk around in!!

Can you imagine wearing these?  I can’t!!

I have a few shoes with heels.  I think the maximum height heel I own are 2in.  If I wear those, they hurt me, within a few minutes, or an hour.  I don’t understand why any of us tolerate the torture of living for hours or an entire workday in unnatural footwear.

Hurray for my Earth Shoes (that are apparently no longer available for sale on Zappos, sadly)! I love you, my feet love you!

PS I’ve been wanting to write about my Earth Shoe boots for years!!  Finally got around to it…
