I am an infectious disease physician, specializing in treating HIV/AIDS. I am currently a staff clinician, working at the National Institutes of Health – however, everything I write here is my personal reflections, and not an official statement as a governmental employee.
I was born in London, England, and grew up in California (both north and south). My father was from Sri Lanka, and my mother is American. I am an American mutt – mixed in blood, and experience and outlook.
This blog was initially started to post photos of my travels to Africa and elsewhere, but it’s become a place to post random thoughts…now, mostly about our multinational family – English, American, Ethiopian!

Well said, JK, well said.
So great to “meet” you (I found out about your blog through From Left 2 Write!)! 😀 I’m in my last year of medical school right now! Looking forward to following along and reading more! :]
Lovely to “meet” you, too! As you may have noticed, I’ve been inactive for the summer – keep thinking about how to write about this summer. Lots of posts in my head, but not made it to the blog. Good luck, and enjoy this last year!! And, best wishes for the Match!
Sounds like things have changed a lot in your life since you wrote this “About Me”. Might be time for an update!
Good idea!
