Notes on throwing parties…(found draft)

I have neglected this blog for months/years, and recently returned to this space – I discovered this snippet was sitting as a draft since December 2018 (just over a year ago)…

I like throwing parties.  I think I’ve posted about this before…

Last night, I threw a Hanukkah/Housewarming party.  This is the third housewarming I’ve had in three years, and it’s the last I’m planning for awhile…

Moving is horrible, and I don’t want to do it again until I absolutely must, which will be when my youngest is launched, in about 8 years.

Here’s a photo of me and my guests, lighting multiple menorahs in my living room:

So, that’s as far as I’d written – it was a lovely evening, I remember. Kind of an open house, folks coming and going. One lovely recollection I have is of our cat, Bean, circulating through the kitchen and living room, basically acting as feline host. Such an odd, sweet cat!! We miss him…

And, the strange thing for me now, as for so many, is that we can’t throw parties at all. We can’t even have small dinner parties. Life has turned on it’s head, and we are stuck in isolation. I listened today to Hidden Brain, hosted by Shankar Vedantam, and was impressed with the wisdom it offered for today’s challenging times. I would encourage anyone to check it out.
