I loaded up my little Chevy Volt with the last remaining scraps in my old apartment, and drive them to work, since, like an idiot, I didn’t take more than one day off to move (last Friday), so I’ve been fitting in loading and unloading around my work day. I seriously underestimated how much stuff I accumulated this year!
After my clinic was done, I unloaded the car and raced down to Rockville for choir rehearsal (Zemer Chai) – i was only a little late. But exhausted – yawned through rehearsal, and played loud music to stay awake on the drive home.
This morning, when I woke up, I was so relieved that I didn’t have to load and unload the car anymore. But the mess in my new, smaller space is daunting. Thursday night is always my one night that I’m guaranteed to be home, so I was happy to have time to start sorting things out. In order to make dinner, I started in the kitchen, and now, at a bit past midnight, the kitchen looks like a livable space:
So, at one room a day, I should have it all done by Monday (but I know that’s ambitious). Since I’ve moved from an enormous space into a more compact space, i think i will have to get a storage space. I definitely need to get bookcases, since my last apartment had two built-in. And I’m going to finally edit the clothes I no longer fit in or like.
And I will finally get my bikes in condition to ride.
So, good night, from my much quieter me neighborhood. I look forward to inviting friends over soon to help me warm this apartment into a home. I may host a sing-a-long.
